Thursday, Feb 7th

Happy birthday Daniel, the big 16 today.
It was a chilly night last night.  Our heat pump did a great job of keeping us warm, even though the temps outside got down to the freezing mark, 32F or 0C.  The truck windshield had frost this morning.  Sure hope it warms up soon as Lanny and her family arrive on Saturday afternoon.
The day started out with the koffee klatch and the good news was donuts were provided thanks to the generosity of one of our residents. There was a large group attending this morning and it was an interesting meeting.  The financial report on the patio sale was a pleasant surprise, our best result ever.  The election process for the tenants association was kicked off today and there is a bit of drama surrounding it.  We usually don't even have an election, in fact in the previous 10 years we have been here it happened once.  It seems some folks just revel in creating controversy, so we will see.
When we got back I vacuumed the truck as Marg was driving some of the ladies to their luncheon.  This is an annual event and she had a full load, cancellations and additions so ended up with 4 others riding with her.  It was at the Olive Garden again and the food was good as usual [better than my cheese sandwich I would wager].  Many of the ladies had a margarita or two, but not our designated driver.
While I was alone I visited a bit and then worked on the stuffing in my recliner.  This is a pretty good quality chair but experiencing some compression of the stuffing.  It's an easy thing to fix and I had some stuffing from a previous fix on Marg's chair.  It happens in the lumbar area and the back even has a zipper so you can firm it up with a minimum of fuss.
When Marg returned we went out to Fry's for groceries.  We have pretty much been eating what we had on hand since our return in January.  We have our cupboard and fridge levels down to where we could put a few more things in them.  Room or space is our biggest challenge here and it was time.  We got some good deals [especially in meat] and some innovative stuff so a good trip.
When we got back and things squared away we went out for happy.  It was a Patti & Gary's and a pretty good crowd.  Gary had a patio heater so the ladies were toastie warm and even the park owner was there for a visit.
Supper tonight was Taco Bell, and we each had a version of the meal deal box.  They are $5 and include a drink.  I had the chalupa box, Marg the gordito box.  Honestly mine was more than I could eat, how the heck can they do that?
After we got back it was time for the animal races.  It was well attended this evening, must have been 40 or 50 people.  The betting was hot and heavy and the elephant won 3 times.  I thought I did well winning 4 times [the elephant plus one], but Marg won 6 of the 8 races.  There is something odd happening, the odd numbers are winning almost all of the races.  They have a bucket of dice and change them at least once during the races, but still odd numbers.  Tonight the number 6 won on the 4th race and in many previous weeks there were only odd numbers winning.
After the races we planned to have apple pie with ice cream and coffee.  Kenny & Doris were at loose ends tonight, so they joined us for a slice and we ended up having a very pleasant evening with them.
