Friday, Feb 8th

Happy birthdays to Lyzi and Bill.  Wishing you all the best on your special day and wishing we could be there to celebrate with you.
The cold trend continues and the overnight temp was very close to the freezing mark.  The sun was very welcome and by mid-morning it was a nice day.  We kept busy with small chores around the place and Marg went out to the Ranch market.  She got a shopping cart full of vegetables and fruit for $18, all of it fresher than anything available at home this time of year.  The oranges are amazing this year and the pears are a close second.
After she got back we went to an estate sale where they had advertised lots of tools.  Well there were lots, but not good stuff, mostly old worn out and odd stuff.  Nothing worth seeing and we had some time pressure, so a total waste of time.  When we got back we had a quick sandwich and off to help set up the hall.  The entertainment event tonight was sold out, so we had to arrange the room in theater style.  We were supposed to meet there at 1:00, so we arrived about 5 minutes early to find almost all the work done.  This one of life's great mysteries to me.  I have seen it in numerous other situations, but why ask people to show up and help knowing you are going early to do the work?  Made for an easy task.
Went back home where Marg cut vegetables and potatoes for supper.  I went back to the pool room and played.  The fellow I played was tough today and it was all I could do to get a few wins.  I had to cut it a bit short as we were hosts for happy today.  Marg put together a few snacks and we got the breezeway set up.  There is no place for me to move the truck, so I took it outside the fence to park it.  We had a much smaller group today, there were only 4 guys, which was nice for a change.
Supper tonight was a nice New York steak and the vegetable/potato medley Marg made earlier.  I'm not certain, but it had to be one of the thickest steaks I have ever done on the bbq.  Marg chopped off a piece and cut it to half the width so it would be well done.  Mine ended up about half way between rare and medium rare, very nice.
Marg had to be at the clubhouse shortly after 6 to meet with the entertainment committee and get everything ready, left while I was still getting the bbq squared away and changing.  I took my camera with me to the event and captured the moment for the tenants fb site..The act was great he really had the crowd rolling in the aisles.  He combined comedy with his magic acts and it went over very well.  We had over 125 in the crowd, probably the largest we have had, so it presented some unique challenges for the committee.
A funny thing at happy yesterday.  The park owner came and sat in for one beer.  The host got him a beer as most of us just take one and then go.  Two days ago he happened by and Jerry was having a unique beer [beer with bourbon in it], something the owner had not seen before.  When he asked what Jerry was drinking, Jerry said he would bring him one next happy.  As it turned out Jerry didn't make it yesterday, so when the owner showed up, Kenny started in with the idea that Jerry let the owner down and that he was going to make the most of it with Jerry.  This happened at happy at our place today.  In fact Kenny was so convincing that Jerry left to see if the owner was still in his office so he could explain.  Well he wasn't so Jerry got to stew a bit longer.  When I went to the show tonight he was bending the owners ear in the line up for the show, so I went around the back and told Kenny.  Well we were both almost crying we laughed so hard.  When Jerry finally got into the clubhouse, he came over to tell us he was on to us and all Kenny & I could do was laugh - again.   This is not the first time, Jerry is a bit naive.  :>))
