Sunday, March 25th

My day started early.  Had to be up and on the road by 7:00 AM to play in the golf tournament at Painted Mountain in Mesa. The course was not all that far, but some of the activities started early.  One of the guys in the park got a team together to play in a charity event in support of disabled veterans.  It was a Texas Scramble, a format that I usually enjoy as it suits my game.  By that I mean you can mis-hit shots and if your team mates come through, still have a good round.  Two of the guys I played with have very good short games and strike the ball well.  As it turns out my driver was about as good as ever from the tees.  We did much better than I expected, finishing 9th out of 36 teams.  It was a shotgun start with two foursomes at each hole.  It was a warm day and that took it's toll on us as well, we pretty much never won anything, but a fun event.  How did we pull it off, well you could buy mulligans [useable anyplace on the course] - 6 for $20 and we had 18.  At the end of the round we only had 3 left.  At the end of the golf we had a roast beef lunch.  It was a full meal like you would expect for supper with a garden salad to start, very nice.
Marg started out her day with laundry. It was a good day for it with the sun and wind.  After that she went out to Bashas for groceries where she took advantage of some great specials.  In addition to the usual things she was looking for a nice roast to make a dinner tomorrow.  Apparently she got everything she was looking for and the specials were an unexpected bonus.
There were visitors throughout the day coming to see her deals from Saturday.  The metal wall hangings on the breezeway wall were popular, but the real prize was the bistro table and two rocking chairs with like new cushions.  Many of her friends were envious or jealous after seeing them.  I believe she is no longer looking for chairs, so they were definitely a home run on that score.
We went to happy hour and it was a small group.  Some the husbands had gone out into the desert today and weren't back by 4.  They showed up when things were just winding up and one of the guys had some nice rocks, I guess.  The talk around the group was on many things, but departure dates came up.  After the end of next week it's going to be pretty quiet around here.
Supper for us tonight was salads.  Marg always puts together a nice salad with a bit of everything in it.  As it was only about 3 hours since my roast dinner, that was all I could handle and she likes salad anytime.  I've come a long way since my days of saying that's what food eats, having two salads today.
After supper it was the last ice cream social.  Everyone got whatever they had last week.  Marg the bowl of ice cream and a piece of cake, me the banana split.  On of the guys was not there, so they made up his banana split and Marg took it home so we could drop it off for him.

  2. They really packed them in on that shotgun with two groups on every tee. Well done on your performance.
