Wednesday, March 20th

A gorgeous day although it was a bit cloudy much of the day.  The temperature got up to 85 F and the sun came out for a few hours around noon.  Later, about supper time we were hit with a few sprinkles of rain.  There wasn't enough to get anything wet, just the odd drop fell on us.  You can imagine how traumatic that was.  LOL
I played golf with the group this morning.  Got teamed up with a couple fun guys.  It was definitely shorts weather today.  The driver worked well today, but the short game suffered.  It seems that is the way it goes for me, so no use getting excited about it.  Got 2 pars and the score was fine.  The guy who shared the cart with me is retired from a John Deere factory.  He was working on the manufacture of round balers when the company went in to making golf course equipment.  He was transferred to the new plant and when he questioned his boss why anyone would want to cut grass so short, the boss took him out golfing to see it for himself.  The result was he started to play.  I told him I was impressed with his boss.  Taking him to see the end result of what they were trying to accomplish - a well mowed fairway or putting green.  The power of that kind of approach can produce amazing results. There is now only one more week of golf with the park group.
In the morning Marg did laundry, checked over the banking, got the mail.  Kind of her regular routine.  Lunch today was the leftover salad for Marg and French toast for me.  That way we both enjoyed what we had.  After lunch Marg went to the grocery store.  She checked the flyers for good deals and that took her to Fry's.  The only problem was that to get some of the good deals she would have to purchase minimum quantities, so not such a good thing with us leaving shortly.  She picked up the ingredients for a coleslaw she agreed to make for supper tonight.  By the time she got back to our place her hip was really bothering her.  It is really becoming a problem.
I went to play pool for a while.  For the most part I ended up playing one on one with a very good player.  We went back and forth a lot, neither willing to give in.  For example after the first break he made all but 2 of his balls, so I had to keep him from them until I got most of mine down.  After our first game, he laughed and said did I realize the players at the next table finished their second game when we finished our first.  Later we were joined by a 3rd player, so played two on one.  We had lots of laughs today.
When I got back I helped Marg with the coleslaw.  Happy hour and supper tonight were at Lynett's and Marg's contribution was the coleslaw.  There were quite a few at happy, about a couple dozen.  IT seems they pretty much all stayed for the supper which was pretty much a potluck.  Lynett had made sloppy joe's and there were salads and desserts.  The rhubarb upside down cake was great.
After we finished up there, I went and played poker at the clubhouse.  We had 10 tonight, so 2 tables.  I got my butt kicked around and didn't come on top.  It was a good table and a fun game, so it was all good.
