January 1st

HAPPY NEW YEAR 2017!
Somehow I have got a day behind again.  Late nights and posting in the morning seems to be the cause, these RV parks are tough on a guy when I'm not accustomed to it.
It was a rainy day again, but mostly just periodic showers.  Well even the cactus needs a bit of rain, so the first part of January is when we expect it.  There were lots of fireworks through the early hours yesterday that made a guy wonder if it was gun shots.  A strange phenomenon here is a tradition of firing guns in the air at midnight, one that is apparently very common in Mexico as well.  There are lots of people trying to stop it from happening in both places as there have been some terrible accidental deaths from it.  This year in Mexico a young boy died and a while back in Arizona a teenage girl died.  Apparently both were struck in the head by a falling bullet, well duh, what do people think happens to the bullets shot in the air, especially in cities.  There is an act before the state legislature in Az to stop discharge of firearms in cities, a law that is already in place in some other states.
We pretty much stayed in until around noon and did some posting on the tenants association FB site.  The number of hits on the photos from the New Years party were very high, so the system was busy and I had to split up the file of pics to load them up.  I think we had about 2,500 hits in the early morning.  After we went out to Harbour Freight.  They issued some coupons that were only valid New Years day, so we couldn't pass that up.  Even Marg used one as she bought a couple of solar lights.  Her lights were about $5 for the two and she got a free tape measure [$3.50 value], well I picked the free item for her.  LOL  I bought a jig saw for $22 and used my 25% off coupon, but they let me get a free item as well, so picked out a magnetic strip used to hold tools on a peg board.  Life is good.  The place was packed so we each chose of different line to the check out, Marg beat me out by about 20 minutes.  Well I did get to pass some time chatting with a couple of old guys in the line who were essentially doing the same thing as me.
We stopped in at Big sporting goods on the way back.  We checked them out pretty thoroughly, but could not find anything that appealed to either of us.  It wasn't that busy, post holiday shopping seems to be more of a big deal in Canada than here.
We had supper at home and then went to Ice Cream social.  Marg had a sundae and I had a banana split.  Well I didn't really want one [not], but I needed a picture of one for the tenants association FB site.  I wanted to promote the event, maybe I should have got a free one as it was really for the greater good that I ordered it. You know, just trying to keep up the traffic levels on the FB page.
