We are certainly in a hot spell here in the valley. By very early in the morning it is starting to warm up and gets into the 80's by mid-day. It seems the rv's around us all have their AC units running most of the day. This unit of ours is amazingly cool. We have not yet turned on the AC and even leave the doors open, which has a risk of allowing the hot air into the unit. It remained very pleasant inside all through the day today, so we are a bit unique in that respect.
Went riding with the lads this AM. It was perfect weather for it and Larry & I mad about 7 1/2 miles, the other two must have been in the 10 range. We came across another park resident on our ride and I think he will be going with us in the AM. We encountered a lot of riders today, not sure why as we were on our regular route and usually don't see very many people. We heard about another snake out east, but never saw it, haven't really seen any more wildlife on our route.
Got back in time to see Marg off to water aerobics. They had a pretty good turnout, about a dozen and the pool was in the low 80's. She got a ride back with Lynette who offered me the use of her table saw. It used to be Bud's actually and she has kept some of his tools, this being one. I have been needing the use of one for my next project.
While Marg was at splash & thrash, I loaded the Rhino in the trailer. It has been sitting on the driveway and kind of getting in the way, so I took the opportunity to load it when I had a bit of a lull in activity. I had kind of forgot how I had it tied down in there and space is a bit tight, so had to jockey it back and forth a bit. It was a slow morning, so I was able to park the trailer on the road out front for the time it took.
About
the time Marg was getting back Darryl & Rita happened by to drop off a painted rock. She has been personalizing rocks for all their friends and I guess it was out turn today. Everyone here has a rock on their step so that any messages or notices can be left under it without concern about it blowing away. She has been doing quite a bit of painting and has sold a few pieces, anyway pretty nice of then to do this. Oh yeh, almost forgot my story. So Darryl was there and he offered to go get the table saw with me as it was in Lynette's shed. We took the truck and he helped me both load and unload it. Nice saw, BTW. While they were here the neighbour to the east [Nancy] came by and dropped off some chocolate brownies. It was kind of a thank you to Marg for her going to listen to her and her musical partner practice. Apparently her husband and Marg were the only ones there, but they played some great music and it made for a fun experience. We quite often are the beneficiaries of her talents as she plays many Saturday's with the windows open at her place.
Lunch was open faced sandwiches. A nice change and a great option on a hot day. After lunch I worked on my project. I am building drawers and there is a bank of 4 in the kitchen along side the sink cabinet. I am actually modifying drawers as I had bought a vanity about a month back, just for the drawers. Although they were not the correct size, I thought they were close enough to do this. I have been too busy to get around to it until now and I needed a table saw to help me make the modifications.
Marg worked on her feet today while this was going on. She has all kinds of grinders and shavers for the toes, heels, you name it. The equipment she has for this would make any shop look like amateur hour. I'm not sure who had the most material flying around, her with her grinders or me with the table saw. LOL
It wasn't just a simple case of putting the drawers in. First I had to put in slats along the sides to fasten the track to. The new drawers will have a totally different track system than the old ones. The old ones were sort of falling apart, so fixing them isn't an option. I got two modified and installed and a third one modified. It is sitting out on the patio for the glue to dry. I didn't have a big enough clamp to hold it while the glue dries, so I put a bucket of water on it for the night. Could work -- we'll see in the morning.
Almost forgot Marg made supper in the slow cooker so that it wouldn't heat up the house. A nice pork roast with potatoes and vegetables in the pot. It sat around all day smelling good, and when we couldn't stand to ignore the smell any longer, we ate. Kind of a unique dinner bell system - what?
By the time we cleaned up and ate it was time for: well poker for me and laundry for Marg. Neither one was a winner for us, but I believe the laundry was the one that turned out the best.
