Happy birthday Brennan, it was great talking to you today on your special day.
Started out the day on Marg's list as I had left the compressor on last night and it kicked in a few times and woke her in the middle of the night. According to her, she waited until I got up for the bathroom and then complained about it, so I had to make my way out o the shed in the dark to shut it off. She said her main concern was the other tenants in the area, but I'm not sure.
It was a nice day in the valley. We started out with coffee & donuts in the rec centre. Our table was drawn early in the process, so the selection was good and the apple fritter was as well. The new executive were in place for their first meeting and I had agreed to take their picture for a posting on the recreation FB site. The park area between the park office and pool room is ideal for this kind of thing. Also took a photo at coffee that I posted on thate FB site as well.
After Marg had visitors and after posting on the site, I packed up to go golfing at Encanto. We had a tee time for shortly after noon and two of the regulars came with me as well as a new park model owner. His dad is a long term resident, so he bought the place as a winter break. He had never been to the course and in fact not through the downtown area, so it was a unique experience for him. It was a good group to get out with and we had lots of laughs and the weather was perfect. I played OK, but have had better games.
We got on the road back just around 5 and the traffic was pretty heavy on the #10. We tried a different route as I never had to pick up Gerry. It worked out really well and having the extra guys was able to run in the HOV lane, where traffic was moving much better. The exit we used from the freeway was right on the west end of the big tunnel in the downtown area of Phoenix, so we were able to avoid the dreaded #51 highway. Will certainly use this again as it will be even better when we don't have to travel in rush hour.
When I got back, our supper group had gathered and Marg was hosting cocktail hour with them. I was around 6, so they were all in a good humour and ready to eat. There were 7 of us, so we took 2 vehicles tonight. Supper was at the Zer Kate, a quaint little German restaurant we have eaten at pretty much every year. The food is authentic, the waiters in leather shorts, our busty waitress in a traditional dress, the beer German all accompanied by an accordion player belting out German songs and polkas. It was Lynette's first time there and I believe she had a good experience, as we all did.
After we got home we tried calling Brennan to pass on birthday greetings, but ended up talking to Bill & Haylee. Then Marg tried to facetime Brennan, but had a problem and dialed Charlene [it would have been 4 AM for her] and although she tried to hang up right away, it seems the call woke Char, in spite or her best effort to end the erroneous call. Sorry about that oops! Finally had to settle for a phone conversation with Brennan, hard to believe he is 20 already.
