Cloudy periods in a sunny day. It was chilly this AM as the overnight temps dipped to just below 50F. There were four of us headed out on the morning ride and it was cool enough to wear a coat. We made it out to Idaho fine and about half way back to the RV park when it started to sprinkle and all we could see up ahead looked like it was dusty. Of course it wasn't dust, rather it was a small cloud burst moving our way. We have a rule on the ride that if it rains, it's every man for himself and Pat quickly called that out and started to pedal hard. Needless to say we all got soaked, but made it back. For me it was a hot shower and change of clothes and I was as good as new. Just in case you are curious we made just short of 4 miles today.
Marg had left early for the rec hall where they had a lady conducting a session on greeting card making. She normally only gets a few ladies, but this morning had about 20, so was slightly over-whelmed. One of the ladies here, Sheri, does her own cards, so was a big help in keeping things moving ahead and it all worked out. Marg made one card, apparently a b'day card for me, so can hardly wait to see the result. Probably a knight on a white horse rescuing a fair maid, LOL. Anyway she got back after I was out and about again.
By then it was lunch time so we had hot dogs & onions. Marg finally found some good dogs here that aren't beef. It seems they mainly eat beef hot dogs and sausage, not like what we are accustomed to.
After lunch I worked on drainage. I thought my eavetrough's were OK, but a good downpour yesterday proved that wrong. Some junk was still up there and plugged them again and the water was running right over them. I also cleaned the ones next door where we have our trailers parked as hers were doing the same thing. While I was doing this Jim came by to borrow my pin nailer [brad nailer] to re-install some panel in his 5th wheel. Really funny story: apparently his wife brushes her teeth with an electric tooth brush, but does it in the shower. When she put it in the tray it must have fallen and she couldn't figure out what was going on, all she could hear was buzzing. She's the lady who just had the hip replacement about 3 weeks ago and couldn't bend down to check it out. She panicked and called Jim who ran out to disconnect the power, then when it continued, the water. The buzzing continued, so he pulled off a wall panel [in the shower I think]. By this time Darryl came along and discovered the fallen tooth brush buzzing away and that it really wasn't anything inside the wall. Poor Jim was turning the air blue by this time. It was hilarious to everyone except Jim & Beth. Oh yeh, I think I have my gutters fixed.
Afternoon we took a walk and checked in on our sick folks. Jerry in the park has been feeling poorly and just finished up with the doctor, seems he got a prescription and is on the mend. Then I called Gerry Canuel, he's been sick for 4 days and went to the doc and it seems he has pneumonia and got a prescription. They took blood for some tests to make sure it isn't valley fever, hopefully he is on the mend as well. Gerry usually books our golf for Thursday, so I had to do that and we have times booked for a foursome from the park at Encanto for noon. Then we had to get hold of our bank in GP and tell them to send some cash. It was a bit of a circus with the automated phone system and then had some problems with Telus email. By the time I got the message off to our account manager, the afternoon was almost over. Heard back from them after supper and the dough is on its way and if Wanda's past handling proves true, it will be in our account here tomorrow. With the terrible exchange rates we have been trying to not convert more money than we need, but mis-calculated. Marg had company this afternoon. A couple of ladies from BC stopped in to chat, one of them is going to be our new neighbour to the rear.
Supper was the last of the stew and as always, it's just as good the second day. In fact Marg likes it better on day 2. Finished in time for bingo, the Powerball here is over $500, so worth winning. Unfortunately it will be higher next week as it was not won. Marg was very close, but no luck tonight. Two of her friends [Doris & Nancy] won, so our table had some luck. On the way back after, we stopped at friends a few doors down as their daughter and her husband called us over. They are always good for a few laughs and wanted us to meet their family. Stan offered a drink of Irish whisky and I was going to pass, but Marg said she would have one, so we both did. It was Tullamore dew and was being served in small shooter glasses. Pretty funny as she said that's OK and convinced Judy she should join her. I think grandma was either ready to party or drown her sorrows for not winning tonight.

ReplyDeleteYour card could be a knight on a white horse, or it might be a wet guy on a bicycle looking for someone to make breakfast.
