Sunday, Jan 18th

Day got off to a good start, Daniel & I rode with a couple of the guys this morning.  The bike Marg got for him worked well and we made about 6 1/2 miles today.  I rode at the back with the other old guy while Daniel rode at the front with Pat and they did some - I'll race you to the ... whatever.  I think he may have found the pace a little slower than he is accustomed to, but he said he had fun.

We went to the big Mesa market today and only covered about half of it.  We got a few things, Vanessa got the best deal on a fancy laser light thing that was about 1/5 what she saw it for at home.  I think Daniel was the first to lose interest.  While it is somewhat unique, there is a lot of stuff a kid wouldn't be interested in.  He looked for some crocs there, then at Big 5 and later at famous footwear, but no luck.  We left about lunch time and had a quick sandwich back at the park.

After lunch we went out to Goldfield where we toured around.  It's a fun place and we got there shortly after lunch and in time for the big shoot out on main street.  Daniel wanted a picture of us in the jail, not sure what that means, LOL.

Marg and Daniel waiting for the sheriff to come out and stop the robbery of the Wells Fargo stage strong box.  The big shoot out was over the strong box.

Daniel tried his hand at gold panning and got some real gold along with a bunch of other gem stones and some fools gold in his poke and had a pretty successful day of it.  I don't believe he has made it into a paying proposition at this stage, but he is on the right track.

We went to the critters exhibit and saw this huge scorpion.

Now this is a spider, makes the ones at home look kind of wimpy.

Then of course a tarantula to liven up the exhibit
No picture of nasty critters down here would be complete without the diamond back rattlesnake.  This was a pretty good sized one, but the good news is he only eats about once a month and today was not the day.
After we went out to the No 1 Eastern Buffet for the Chinese buffet.  It is always good, but the challenge as always is not to over-do it, something I usually fail at.  Probably an early night tonight as we are off to Los Angeles and Anaheim tomorrow.
