Traffic through on the highway through the desert was about average, but when we got to Quartzsite, there was a big show on and campers everywhere in the surrounding desert. I think it was the gem show, but it certainly was busy there. Lots of rv's leaving there, likely to go home after the long weekend, so traffic right around there was noticeably heavier.
From there we passed through Blythe and stopped in Indio for lunch and fuel. The country certainly is greener when you get that far into California when compared to Arizona. The traffic also started to build noticeably in this area, even though it is still a couple of hours east of Los Angeles. I also plugged in the GPS unit here before heading out, relying on it for directions the rest of the way. By the time we got into the LA area, traffic was fairly heavy, so I can only imagine what it would be like on a workday. Will find that out on Wednesday when we leave, I suppose. On our way into Anaheim, we came along on some pretty major freeways judging from the number of travel lanes [lots of 6 each way & sometimes more]. About 650 km's today in total & some good experience driving on busy roads.
Got here early enough to get in some shopping. Yes I know, we were shopping the other day, however we didn't get some of the things we were looking for. As my luck would have it, the front desk staff were able to point out an outlet mall nearby. We had better luck at this location and came away with a few purchases.
By now we were starting to feel the need for sustenance and went out to TGI Fridays for supper. Some more good fortune as the restaurant has some good happy hour deals on Monday. The food was great, everyone seemed happy with their selections. Got back to the hotel in time for Vanessa and Daniel to get in to the pool. They are splashing around as I write this.
While we were out looking at the fireworks display, we discovered a place called Tiffy's and one of their offerings is homemade ice cream. So we tried some & it was great. Marg had a small cone, Vanessa a slice of pie, Daniel a milkshake and me, well a nice sundae.
Busy travel day! Looks like your well set up for an exciting day tomorrow x
