A day at the Happiest Place on Earth

The day started out with a heavy fog.  How heavy, well at times it felt like moisture fell out of it.  Because this kept the sun from shining thru it was a bit on the cool side.  We got up and had what they bill as a continental breakfast here at the hotel.  By that I mean they had sausage, ham, eggs, hash browns, pancakes and the usual assortment of:  bagels, yogurt, fruit, cereal, etc.  Much more than we expected and it got us off to a good start.
We took the shuttle to Disneyland and it was great that it stopped right in front of our hotel.  You can see the ferris wheel and a roller coaster in the background across Katella.  The shuttle got us right to the front gate in short order and although the park is right across the road, we are on the back side from the entrance, so a walk of about 1 1/2 miles.  We knew it would be too far at the end of the day, besides Marg & I got the seniors discount rate.  LOL

When we got to the gate, it wasn't too busy because of the fog.  From past trips to the Magic Kingdom we expected huge lines and while these were not short, they were much better than in prior visits.  There were a lot of happy people there, but none more so than our grandson, Daniel.  Length of the line-up was not a factor for him.  Don't get me wrong, the park got very busy as the day progressed, but with the capacity they have, it was a great day to get maximum benefit for the $90 plus ticket.
Got in some great ride experiences.  In fact I started calling Daniel the King of Thunder Mountain.  He rode it 4 times today and convinced his mother and grandmother both to go twice.  Not grandpa did not ride, Katie was the last one to trick me into that.

.

So many experiences and both Daniel and Vanessa had the first
time visitor buttons.  This got us a few perks, like the end cabin on the monorail.  This was something they both really wanted to experience and when we got to the Disney village we just stayed on and did the full circuit.

Also got into the neat food items that are quite different from home.  For Vanessa it was the Mickey Mouse shaped pretzel.  Daniel usually not too adventurous with foods he doesn't recognize loved it as well, so she had to share.  Daniel found some money right off the bat as we were walking in, so got his first treat with that and was really happy about it.  He has eagle eyes for money laying about, I guess.

The parade was great and went on for a long time.  It's always a highlight of the day in the park and

they sure did a marvelous job today.  Lots of theme characters in the parade as well as colourful and accompanied by very catchy music.  The parade went on for quite a while.

The end of the day today was a river special they put together with laser lights, water spray, characters you name it.  Even some fireworks thrown in.  It was about 40 minutes in length and was very unique.  The word spectacular comes to mind.  A very tired group left the park after the 8PM closing time.  Back to the hotel, a quick bite to eat and early to bed.  Need to rest for tomorrow!

  2. Mega blog post thanks. Disney with a grandchild is something to look forward to. I guess the breakfast didn't specify which continent it was styled on. Bonus breakfast is great start to any day. Enjoy.
