Thursday, December 19th

Another chilly night in the valley that warmed up quickly to become a very nice day,
We got out fairly early and went to the coffee klatch this morning.  There were quite a few people there for this time of year, lots of folks have gone home for Christmas.  For some of those people it's an easy days drive while for others they get cheap flights within the continental U.S.  We were lucky this morning being the first table called for donuts, so excellent selection.
Marg did some running around after coffee.  First to Lynett's place to see how she was doing and find out what time her daughter was leaving.  The daughter was flying to her sons place for a few days.  Then Marg stopped at Rita's to discuss some plans they are making for Christmas eve and the Christmas dinner.  I may have mentioned that we are kitchen help for Christmas dinner.  They are planning a get together for a few people on Christmas eve and there is a possibility of rain.  If it does rain, the group gathering will be in our breezeway with a few heaters.  When she finished we did some maintenance stuff around the park model to put up a privacy curtain to help us with the company we are expecting this winter.
Lunch was French toast, always a favourite  I must be doing something right or she is buttering me up.  Around that time we had a call from Kenny & Doris, it seems they will be here just after New Years.
After lunch I played pool with 3 other fellows.  We had good games and a few laughs.  We played for a couple of hours then I had to leave.  Marg had lots of visitors today, some of it relating to the entertainment committee, so she was pretty busy.
Shortly before 4 we drove Joann to Mesa Gateway airport and went for a short drive.  Short because she called to say she was at the wrong airport.  It seems her flight was from the big airport, Phoenix Sky Harbor and it was rush hour.  So we turned around and drove her to Sky Harbor.  It is quite a distance, probably 30 miles and it was rush hour.  Fortunately most of the traffic was the other direction and we got there in time to find out she missed the flight by 10 minutes.  Fortunate for her a kind ticket agent gave her a ticket for tomorrow.  Then it was back to Gateway where we picked up Barb, Lynett's other daughter from her incoming flight and drove the two of them back to Carefree Manor.  By then it was almost 6 o'clock and there was Animal races tonight.  We grabbed a quick bite at KFC and while late for the races, still made it for most of them.  Marg fairly cleaned up tonight, me not so much, but I did OK.  I also told a few jokes tonight to spell the organizer off.  It was the last races until January now.
