Sunday, Feb 10th

A nice day in the valley, a bit of wind but the sun was out and doing it's best to warm us.
Our visitors from Edmonton got a bit of a later start, likely a result of the long day they had yesterday.
They got to our place at about 11 this morning.  We were out of here pretty soon after and we surprised to find the highway all newly paved with a traffic round-about on it.  After taking a wrong exit off and making a u-turn to get back on 88 our first stop was Goldfield, the old ghost town just into highway 88.  The timing was good as a big street gun fight was about to take place.  We were a bit concerned about the number of gunfighters, the level of noise and how Easton would react to it.  They all wanted to see the gunfight, so Marg took Easton in his stroller back to the entrance area and off to the side to minimize the impact to him.
It was pretty busy today, with the weather being nice and Sunday is usually popular.  We wandered around there for a bit, I think Lannie found a few things in the souvenir shops, then it was time to move on.  They were surprised at the narrow winding road through the mountains and slow speed of the traffic through there.  The other surprise was the big marina on Canyon lake and size of the boats in the middle of the desert.
When we arrived at Tortilla Flats parking was a problem, the place was packed and the only available parking was when someone left.  Blake got a stall first and then I cruised the area until I spotted a couple coming out and got their spot.  We had lunch in the Superstition Saloon and it was pretty good.  We stopped in at the patio where the band was in full swing, burgers smoking on the bbq and it was standing room only.    It takes quite a while to drive the 15 miles back to AJ, almost an hour, so we left shortly after eating.  As luck would have it, quite a few people had the same idea, so it was like a parade.
Back at our place for a cocktail and a chance for the little guy to run around a bit.  The off to ice cream social where they had a big crowd tonight.  For the six of us it was 4 banana splits and one dish of ice cream with cake.  Lots of people came over to say hello and chat with them.  It also gave Blake a chance to meet Gene who will be golfing with us tomorrow.  A good day.
