Thursday

It rained most of the night and the day started off very wet.  The water was running down the street, not just from the rain though as we had a water line break in the park. It was funny to see them running around with a  huge coffee pot to get water for our morning coffee.  We were lucky in this half of the park as our water was never out, but even the rec hall and the washrooms were out of action this morning.
Marg got off with the gamblin' gals plus a couple more this morning and went up to the Fort.  There were 6 of them this morning.  They had a good day, but unfortunately there were no winners.  The big pottery piece of the day was a snowman cookie jar. I think that makes 4 cookie jars, but I know she has given a couple away.  They had a conversation about their day to go to the Fort as the new dish deal day looks like it will be Saturdays and will likely be in a very crowed casino as a result.  They will try it, but it looks like they may have decided on Friday if it doesn't work out.
I went to coffee & donuts this AM.  It was a small group and we were lucky to have coffee with the water problem.  After I went over to look in the hole where the water line broke.  The job needed more supervision, LOL.  I spent most of the rest of the morning posting pictures on FB and cleaning up emails.
After lunch I went and got Warren to play some pool.  As it turned out there were only 3 playing pool and I could have just joined in, but he likes to play and he is good competition.  It's good to get new people interested in activities around the park, especially the pool room.  There are a handful of guys that play every day and a bit of a feeling that you have to be really good or that it is exclusive. It is neither, but sometimes guys just need to have someone show them the ropes.  Anyway he won a couple, I won a couple and we had some fun.
After that I did a few things around the house and then to happy hour.  Another very small group today, there were 4 of us.  About that time the gamblin' gals returned with cookie jars in hand.  No big winners today, but they had a good day out.  Supper was a nice oriental type salad with chicken in it and then off to the Animal races.  Marg won 4 of 8 races, I won 5 so we did pretty well tonight.  The attendance was pretty good all things considered and we had some fun.  Clyde always tells jokes while the girls calculated the bets and payouts and sometimes I pitch in.  Tonight I never told a joke as I wanted something Christmas-ee I told a true story for a change.  It was about the time when the grandchildren were very young and we went with Bill and the kids to a Christmas eve party in the country at Dale & Sue's.  The adults decided they wanted to create a memorable Christmas experience and try and make it look like the kids could see Santa in his sleigh in the night sky, using my flare gun with a red flare.  It got a pretty good laugh, better than most of the jokes in fact.
After we got back Marg made up 7 goodie bags that she wants to give to a few special people in the park here.
