Monday Dec 19th

The wind blew pretty much all night and then all day today.  It warmed up a bit and by mid-morning was very nice through the rest of the day.
I went out to The Links at Queen Creek with Mickey & Gary.  This was my first time there this winter and the course was in nice shape.  It is 18 holes with nice grassy fairways, greens, etc.  The greens a are challenging as they are cut very short and mostly undulating.  I hit the ball fairly well, but had that couple of really bad holes that tend to make the score climb.  I did hit a couple of shots that are the ones that keep a guy coming back.  There was a 283 yd par 4 where my tee shot landed about 10 yards in front of the middle of the green.  When the final toll was taken, I was 97, so not bad for the first time on the long track since early summer.  They were great to golf with and we had lots of laughs, especially on the water hole where Mickey said well they have a real nice drop area just out at the bend in the fairway that you will really enjoy.
Got some sad news while I was on the course.  Kenny phoned me to say that he got a call saying his son died this morning.  They were on their way back to Russell, so will be there for the service.  It was unexpected, but a terrible thing to happen just before Christmas.  Unfortunately we have dealt with something similar with other people years ago and know how difficult it is.  God bless them.
Marg did laundry this morning.  She did a couple of loads and with the warming weather and wind the drying went very well.  She apparently had a steady stream of visitors all day and the Christmas card numbers climbed to where they are everywhere.  Millie came by to show her a blanket that her granddaughter made with all the family photos on it, then she went around the park with her to help her deliver her cards.  Then Beth stopped by to see if she could help with a missing button, everyone knows how Marg collects buttons.  Then Rhonda came to the house to cut both Marg's & Doreen's hair.
After I returned home, we had visitors.  Apparently they were looking for my return.  There is an older travel trailer in the park that was supposed to leave here, but the owner is apparently half way to Tennessee, so the park is going to move it.  There is a whole other story around the trailer owner and we are not certain we know all of the details.  Well they want me to tow it for them and have it all set up for tomorrow morning.  Marg had earlier told them, well don't expect Dave to deal with the sewer connections for it.  LOL  Should be an interesting morning.
Then it was happy hour and Nancy was back from S Dakota where it was 50 below with the wind chill.  She was glad to be back here in the Valley of the Sun and both Cooper and Larry were glad she was home, well winter home anyway.  Mediacom called to confirm our appointment, while I was at happy and I thought it might be Marg, so I answered the phone with "Joes pool room, Joe here".  Fortunately it was a recording, so I only felt a little foolish.  After we went out to Ihop for supper.  Marg had the spinach omelet and I had the 2x2x2, both highly predictable selections for each of us.  She informed me tonight that we will be eating out more, so stay tuned as any day could contain a review of some gastronomic delight.
