Yuma - Jan 11th

Today was a nice hot one, we wore shorts & Tshirts all day long. Sat in the sun a bit and really felt good about the weather when we heard about what it was like at home. ;>) We went for a drive out Fortuna road where the farms are. There were a large number of Mexicans harvesting lettuce crops surrounded by some large herb fields. Marg bought some things at a veg & fruit stand, some really nice oranges, avocados, etc. It was hilarious, there we were in shorts and the Mexicans were putting on winter coats, I guess they like it really hot. The produce here is so fresh and tasty, it's really different, in a very positive way. In the afternoon Spag had a flat tire on the golf cart, so I helped him change it. There are more golf carts here than at the lake. That is a beer drinking job in any country. Hey I saw a quote by Benjamin Franklin today, it went something like: Beer is proof that God loves us and wants us to enjoy life. This could be a new guiding star for some of us. Anyway while changing the tire we collected quite a crowd, but the job got done, Richard you would have loved it. After supper we went to an ice cream social in the main hall and met a nice couple from the Seattle area. According to them the bluest skies are not really in Seattle, rather in Yuma. For the younger generation, this was an old Perry Como song.
