Tuesday, Jan 9th

The day started out a bit cloudy, well it was supposed to rain, but cleared off and was a pretty nice day until late afternoon when the clouds returned with strong winds.  It is raining in the high country but in the valley, still nothing.  Fingers crossed for golf tomorrow morning.  Oops, spoke too soon, the storm just moved in and it is blowing, thundering and raining pretty hard.  This will be big news as they are still in a drought here and there has been no rain for over 3 months.
We went to Costco right after breakfast and the place was packed.  We picked up an energy booster that is added to a bottle of water.  It is reputed to be 5 times as beneficial as Gatorade in giving energy, building electrolytes and  boosting immune system.  We usually use Emergen-C but this is getting such good reviews that we are trying it.
Our real surprise was a nice bottle of single malt that comes from the Tullabardine distillery and Marg found a nice size of Tequila [1.7 litres].  I think she intends the girls to out party us again.
We got back in time for lunch and had a nice caesar salad we picked up at the deli counter.  Marg went tooling around in the golf cart with Linda.  Even though we need to do the brakes, it still runs fine and in an emergency they can drag their feet.  LOL  I went and played a couple games of pool, but barely got there in time to play at all.  This busy life of ours is taking some adjustment on my part.  When I got back I ran out to get a tank of propane for the bbq as I always like to have a spare tank.  This really paid off last night when I ran out in the midst of 2 nice T-bone steaks.  It also gives me enough to use our fire pit if the weather turns cold at night.
Marg had just started chicken breast in the slow cooker when the happy crowd started to arrive.  We had happy hour at our place, partly because it must be our turn and we have a sheltered breeze-way.  With this wind it would be a little uncomfortable out in the open.  It was a smaller group than it has been getting to be, I think there were just over a dozen of us.  We were so rushed we never even put out snacks it was strictly a byob affair.
After supper we went to bingo and Marg was the big winner tonight cashing in a win for $32.  Just another fun day in the Valley of the Sun.

  2. Having been to the distillery it is amazing that their products find their way to a Costco in Arizona. I wonder if that is from the vault that we visited or whether the white spirit comes out of tulabadine and is matured elsewhere? Something to ponder whilst you sip it. Enjoy.

  3. Great what you find at Costco sometimes! Ahh happy hour. Makes me miss our times at the lake even more. Especially in this cold weather. Enjoy!
