Friday, Jan 12th

A nice day in the Valley of the Sun.  We feel really fortunate to be here, especially with the nasty weather back home and hope everyone is safe.
This morning we made a road trip and drove up to Fountain Hills.  I went there using the freeway then up the #87.  I wanted to go to the Tractor Supply store to pick up the other tail light for the cart.  This is right up just a mile from the famous Fort McDowell casino. It was a nice drive so we chatted and Marg was certain this was not the way they go now.  Well there are only two ways there, so I came home on the Bush highway [the other way].  Well Marg was pretty sure it was the way until we got to the Bush highway and Saguaro lake, then said it was not that way, but it is the old way that Nancy used to take.  We had a few laughs, but I'm still not clear on the route they are now using, but we had a nice drive through the mountains.  We did get the tail light and a couple of other parts that will help me with the installation.
When we got back we had lunch and then I went to the hall to help set up for the Pub night on Saturday.  Marg went to pick up the mail.  The project I worked on with 2 other guys was dart boards.  We will be looking after the scoring for this pub event.  There will be a half a dozen games and over 70 people have indicated they will be there, so it should be busy.  I took a half sheet of plywood from home that we fastened Styrofoam to for use as a backdrop for the dart board.  Kind of put me in mind of Chevy Chase in Las Vegas Vacation - pick a number - 7 - nope you lose.
After that I installed the new tail lights on the cart.  They are LED, so low energy consumption and very bright.  Well I think they look good as well.  While I was doing this Marg had a friend come around who is having problems with not getting internet on her new phone.  I think they got it worked out.  Here we are again, the techy guru's from the north, where we are considered techno-peasants.  The rest of my afternoon was straightening the shed that I turned inside out to get the plywood out.
By then it was almost happy hour, so we loaded up chairs on the cart and headed over to Bingers where a large group was assembled.  It was noisy, but I got to chat with some different folks, which is always nice.  At the end Kenny got up to announce that a few of us were going to the Chinese buffet and he had extra coupons if anyone was interested.  We ended up with 24 people at the buffet, so it took a while before we got tables.  I was actually surprised we got in as quickly as we did.  The food was very good, so it was nice to see that has not changed from last year.  At the end when they passed out fortune cookies, we did the same old - add "between the sheets" after your fortune.  It was apparent a couple of people had not done this, but it can be really funny and was tonight.  Marg's - "Don't be afraid to take a chance when the opportunity of a lifetime appears" between the sheets.  Mine - "Curiosity kills boredom, Nothing can kill curiosity" between the sheets.
Kenny drove, he has a new truck [new to him since last year] and drove and it's a pretty nice unit.
