February 3rd

Got up and about and by the time I had a coffee a couple of guys were waiting out front on their bikes.  There were four of us today and we made about 6 1/2 miles, well Larry & I did, the others went the long track, so were likely around 10.  That was enough for me, although the weather was perfect.  The weather has turned warmer and is expected to stay in this pattern for the next week or so.
Did some repairs and then pulled the door off the Az room.  I also took the door out of the breezeway wall at the rear and put it on the Az room.  Marg liked the outer skin on the door better as the old one had some problem repairs on the surface that were pretty obvious.  The Az room door had come unglued and this was the bigger problem.  For those of you familiar with these doors, there is just a small wood frame into which is a Styrofoam sheet, then the whole thing is sandwiched between fiberglass panels. The sandwich is held together with a kind of glue.  The problem is that it only retains its structural integrity [strength] when it all holds together.  When it comes unglued like ours, it's like a wet noodle.  Pretty much ruined the door passage set getting it out of the rear door as it was weather so bad the screws would not turn out.  Got it all apart and found the bottom stile had rotted, so replaced that and then tried to glue it back together.  I say tried, because although the contact glue said it was good for foam, it pretty much started to dissolve the foam when applied.  Good thing I only started it on one side.  Went to the hardware where a rocket scientist was my in store help.  When I told him about the problem and what I needed, he proceeded to read the can labels to tell me what they said.  Arghhhh!  Got some spray adhesive and did the other side, we'll see how it turns out tomorrow.  Couldn't install it anyway because I need a door passage set for this type of door.
The work attracted the usual number of curious visitors.  Sure hope it turns out OK.
After we cleaned up and then off to happy hour.  The ladies outnumbered us by at least 2 to 1.  Had lots of laughs giving a couple of the guys the gears about the impending patio sale and what they had on offer.  After the hour, a couple of us stopped to help Jim put his window unit AC in.  Well we just had to lift it up for him as he had back surgery last fall and can't lift very much.  Not sure how it will work out for him, may be in the same boat as my door.  LOL
Supper was tempura shrimp tonight.  Very good, along with spring rolls and rice.  Of necessity it was a quick one as bingo was tonight.  We had 4 winners at our table and the rest were close all night.  I got a piece of the action, first win in a very long time.
This is a little premature, but because of the time differences and the fact we will be away tomorrow, happy birthday Anna.  We will try and call throughout the day.  Lots of love from grandma & grandpa.
