Thursday, Jan 29th

We both went to coffee & donuts this morning.  The rec hall was fairly full and the coffee/donuts lasted longer than the meeting this AM.  While this may not be an issue that you can easily grasp, we are becoming concerned about the quality or variety of donuts available.  We were one of the first tables and the only ones that appealed were a type of cake donut.  LOL  The things that occupy the mind of a retiree in Arizona!  While there we were reminded that we did not have tickets to Ron E Cash, so got those from Patti, so there is an evening of toe tapping in our future.
It was an overcast day with rain forecast late in the day.  Right after coffee, I headed out  to Phoenix to play golf with Gerry C at Encanto.  Marg delivered breakfast notices around our half of the park. It's kind of a team thing, Taylors do the west side of the park and we do the east side.  It also gave her an opportunity to visit with many people along the way and she was a regular font of park knowledge when I got back.  One of her friends had dropped off some plants as she has big pots out front and is looking to fill them.  A couple of aloe plants and a century plant I believe, so we shall see.
Our tee time was 11:40 and the course played well, we hardly waited on any holes.  The score was ok as well, for me anyway.  I think Gerry would like to have had a better day, but he always says any day on the golf course is a good one.  Made some great shots today, I believe they are in the clubs all along, just waiting to get out.  Unfortunately made my usual quota of blunders as well, including one lost ball in turtle lake.  Traffic was busy as I had to go by Scottsdale where the PGA event early rounds are being played and there is a super bowl area set up as well as the downtown area where they have another big super bowl display and show.  Then of course driving home is always a treat on the 51 highway and the 202 where it meets the 101, but nothing compared to Los Angeles.
Oh yes, Marg also spent much of the day working through all the banking records.  She matches up receipts to charges on the credit card or through the bank.  There is so much fraud these days, she never takes any chances on something slipping through on us.  One of the side effects of doing this was the exchange rate was front and centre, reminding her how painful & expensive that is making our trip here this year.  Into every life a little rain must fall.  That and it really did rain around supper time and well into the evening.
When I got back Marg had a nice chicken dish in the slow cooker and had made a great custard type desert, almost like crème caramel.  The chicken dish was almost like a stew & I always enjoy her mixed dishes.
