January 7th, Ukrainian Christmas

The day started out nice and just kept getting better.  I believe the high temps today were about 10 degrees above normal.
I went with the group from the park and played golf at Apache Sun.  The course is in great shape and the company was good and game went OK.  It could always be better or worse, but I never lost a ball, so that is a good day for me.  Sure missed a lot of par putts, but that's normal for me.  Marg went with the gamblin' gals to the Fort and they had a good time, but no big winners in the group.  She said she sat waiting for one number on a couple of cards for $1,000.
When I got back from golf I had to fix my own lunch.  This is a regular Wednesday thing for me in Arizona, who knows I may get to be good at it.  I certainly eat lots of things Marg wrinkles up her nose at, but it keeps the belly full.  Today it was cheese sandwiches, which I often put jam on instead of mayo or some other spread.  Something I learned back in my bachelor days and Marg will have no part of.  After lunch I painted the Az room with a primer/stain blocker.  It's the same one I used in the trailer and worked well there.  After it dries for 24 hrs it will be time for the finished coat, then I will be almost done with the Az room.
Missed out on happy hour today, as we went out for dinner.  We chose a place based on having a coupon for it in our book.  It was a place in Mesa that was new to us.  The place was busy, but the food left a lot to be desired.  It just goes to show you that there are a lot of people who must eat very poorly if they think it was a good place to eat.  It is definitely not on our list for a repeat visit.  The place was quaint, but even the fish was tough.  Now I have had tough meat, chicken, even vegetables, but never cod.  Thankfully there was only one coupon for the place.  Marg said if there had bene others, she would have clipped and left them.
After we got back Marg went to Fry's and picked up some deals.  They had a really good sale today for the things we needed.  All her buddies went to Basha's for the deals there, mainly steaks again, but we are still eating our way through the last ones.  I went to play poker where I took another beating.  I won one hand all night, much worse than my Monday drubbing.  I think I need to sit out for a few games.  The only good thing was Gerry M brought cookies his wife made, they were pretty good.  Funny Marg said the same thing about bingo at the Fort, so we may both be sitting on the side lines for a few events.
