Christmas Eve 2019

  A rainy day in the valley, but still a decent day, not cold at all.  Most of the time it just sprinkled, but occasionally it rained pretty hard.
  We had a busy day.  Marg made a veggie tray, so she was doing a lot of slicing and chopping.  The two knives she was using weren't up to the task so I took them out to the shed and sharpened them.  After that the slicing went better.  When she finished she had a big bag of stuff to discard, like the ends of the asparagus [I couldn't tell the good end from the bad].  I even helped with some of the slicing, once it was sliced lengthwise and had a flat side to lay on the cutting board she had an easier time.  I took the garbage out and stopped to get the mail, but all we had was flyers today.
  We had visitors, first two guys bringing a patio heater over to help make it more comfortable.  Then two ladies whose party was being held on our breezeway.  They came bringing stuff for the evening, like table cloth, plates, etc. 
  After lunch I pulled the truck out and parked it outside the gate.  Then I put up a tarp on that end of the carport to shield us from the wind.  Marg & the other two arranged things preparing for the guests.  By then it was happy hour and being as we were set up already we had it here.  There were a handful that showed up at 4, and so it began.

  Everyone was invited for 5 o'clock and they started arriving a bit early.  Most couples came bearing food.  The ladies hosting it had made chili and there was lots of it.  There were also lots of other good dishes and desserts, even a trifle.  Lots to eat and that was a good thing because we had about 26 people here and no one went away hungry.  It wrapped up at about 9 tonight and then we did some clean up and packing up.  There is still quite a bit of stuff to go back to peoples places, but that will wait until tomorrow.
