St Patrick's Day - 2019

What a wonderful day, it was sunny and hot.  The weather here has made everyone very happy, except for the concern that it is almost time to leave for home.
I pretty much stayed in this morning as we had agreed to be available in the morning in order to have facetime calls with our family in England.  Our first was with Char, Phil & Katie and then Liz and Nick came to their place so I was lucky to be able to connect with them.  One of the things we learned in the conversation was that Liz & Nick hosted a dinner as a fund raiser to donate for spinal injury.  I was very proud to hear of that philanthropic gesture by this young couple.  Then we had a facetime with Anna, Craig and family.  This was really cute as Sophie was a delight in the conversation  Benji was kind of quiet and not as in to it as his sister.  Nice to hear from the family, they are a treasure.  I also had calls and birthday wishes from the family in GP,  First Bill & Patti and later Roger & Vanessa as well as a number of FB wishes from the grandchildren and many friends and family.
Lunch was a special soup that Marg made.  It was kind of like a won ton with shrimp and lots of good stuff.  It was very nice, but then she is always so thoughtful.  She even put on the golf channel while we were eating.  I like to watch golf, hard to explain for someone who plays it so poorly.  LOL
After lunch we went to the Mexican grocery store where Marg gets milk cakes, among other things.  We have taken some guests there and the bakery is probably the best one in the area.  She bought two amazing cakes and some taco chips.  The ones there must be made in store and they are so much better than any you can buy in the store.
When we got back home I spent some time on FB and printed of the financial review report to give a copy to the incoming Treasurer.  Marg went down to the hall to place our dishes for the dinner and then did some visiting.  At some time while doing this her and Linda decided to race golf carts.  Ours is pretty zippy and I guess she beat Linda soundly.  I think it might be the extra good quality batteries I put in the cart [for $800].   Geez, my wife is street racing in the park, hope we don't get kicked out.
We went to the corned beef and cabbage dinner in the clubhouse.  It was excellent and we had a great time.  The MC thanked a bunch of people, then me for taking all the photos.  At that point he also announced my birthday, so the hall full sang happy birthday.
After supper we had a few people [about 20] over for a drink and cake.  Most of the people had never had a Mexican Milk cake, so it was a bit hit.  We also had shots of Irish whisky and some coffee with Bailey's, so a fun evening.  A full day in the valley of the sun.

  2. I forgot to take your advice and go for a drop of Irish whisky, or as is more correct Whiskey. I did get a second Guinness with dinner though. Glad that you enjoyed your birthday.
