Monday / Tuesday

Monday, February 29th otherwise known as Sadie Hawkins Day.
In the Lil Abner cartoons this was the day the gals [Daisy Mae in his case] chased the guys to get them to ask them to marry them, an offer they could not refuse.
Got up early and went for a bike ride.  There were only 3 of us in the morning, but it was a gorgeous day to ride.  We made about 6.5 miles, so got a good workout.  Marg went out to Bells to check them out as is a good day for that as well, but she had no luck.  She has been shopping quite a bit, but has not enjoyed a lot of success, so is still in the hunt.  When I got back I worked on the door a bit and cleaned up my tool shed.  No snake today, but finding the one the other day made me wonder where the momma snake is.  With the one I found being so small, she can't be too far away.
Marg went for water aerobics and they had a good turnout again.  With the day warming up it's nice to get in the pool and warm enough that she doesn't get chilled getting out at the end.  Then she cooked a corned beef and had a lazy day around the place.  I went golfing with two other guys from the park and we met Gerry C at Encanto for a 1:30 tee time.  Traffic was light, so we were there in good time.  It was already getting warm for the day.  As usual I took two bottles of water and one of Gatorade.  The guys stopped in at the clubhouse at the turn and bought a bucket of ice & beer.  I think they had 3 beers each in the bucket, so had a relaxed back nine.  My game was better than the previous ones, likely the best this winter, so I was reasonably satisfied. Still a long way from my best game there, but an improvement none the less.  It was a first time for Stan & Scott and they seemed to enjoy the course.  It got pretty warm throughout the afternoon, I think we maxed out at 88F, so only a couple of degrees short of a record.  We got through in 4 hrs 5 mins, so the course played well.  After dropping Gerry off we took the 51, then 202 back and traffic was the lightest I have encountered this year and went even better in the HOV lane.
When I got back Marg had Ruben sandwiches [on of my fav's] ready, so we sat down to a great meal.  Having supper ready so quickly gave us time to go to the Sadie Hawkins dance in the hall.  It was organized with canned music, but was pretty good.  Everyone got up and danced and they were well into it by the time we arrived on the scene.  There was lots of action for the line dancers again, this has really filled the dance floor since the lessons were offered.  We danced a few times and Marg pawned me off on Linda for a polka.  LOL
Tired, let me tell you I was getting over-tired.  I was really second guessing my decision to bike in the morning.  In fact shortly after getting home, I fell asleep in my recliner chair, so no blog last night.  Well I did have 2 beers at the dance, but that only seemed to hasten the need for sleep.

Tuesday, March 1st
Another day in the saddle with the bikers, there were 6 of us this AM.  Larry wanted to break away early rather than go to Idaho, so 3 of us went west while the others went east to Idaho.  Short route my eye, we still made 6 miles today with the wind in our face all the way back to the park.
Marg got an early start on her day and went to water aerobics.  They had a pretty sized group again today.  Apparently they have planned a pool party for the splashers & the spouses for later in the month.  While she was gone I worked on assembling the door that I had re-glued and put support pieces in the frame.  I came out pretty well except the frame width was a bit tight, requiring some modifications.  Likely the re-informant and gluing caused it to bulge a bit in the middle, but the door was much more solid when it was done.  Got it sorted out and it works much better now.
We had lunch plans with 4 other couples today.  Every year we have had a lunch on the patio at a very nice golf course in Gold Canyon.  It was perfect day for it with just a bit of a breeze, so a very nice lunch.  The food was great, the service very attentive, so a nice experience.  On the way back we came across a snake on the side of the road that was run over and flattened.  Now this one was a big one, probably 5 or 6 feet long and approximately half as big around as a soda pop can.  That was miles from here, so not much concern with it.
It was a late lunch, we left here at 1 and got back here just after 3PM, with a full belly.  As a result when supper time came around we passed on anything to eat as we were still full.  It was bingo night and we met our friends there.  It's pretty funny, all the regulars sit in their regular spots, we really are creatures of habit.  There were quite a few leave yesterday, so those sites have been filled with people new to the park and it's amusing to watch the interaction as they look for seats.  That was the only amusing thing about the bingo as we never got a sniff.  Marg waited on one number a few times, but that is pretty much small consolation for not winning.
March 1st, not a good thing as people will now start making plans to return, activities will start to wind down and people will start trying to do all the things they never go around to so far this winter.  Soon departure will be the main topic and as much as well miss the people at home and want to go, it is always sad to see the end of the fun times we have here.  Hey but there is still 6  weeks for us.  That and the dollar improved a bit in the past few days, so now a US dollar only costs us 1.37, but hey gas is down below $1.30/gallon in places.
Will try and get back to daily posts.  LOL
