First day of March 2015

It was a nice day, cloudy but warm.  The wind blew a bit, but nothing to stop us from riding our bikes.  There were 3 of us this AM and we made 7 1/2 miles.  Well one of the guys went further, but that was all Larry & I were up for.  It was pretty much ideal riding conditions, you know like Goldilocks and the 3 bears, not too hot, not too cold.
We had a nice face time conversation with Charlene & Phil.  They were trying to make flight arrangements to spend some time in the valley of the sun.  As luck would have it Char phoned later in the day to advise us that they had secured tickets and would be arriving the last week of March.  Really looking forward to their visit.
After we had some lunch, Marg & I went to the big Mesa marketplace.  I picked up a hybrid club there as the one set I have doesn't have anything between a 3 wood and a 4 iron.  It was kind of neat as they had a guy on staff who had been a teaching pro and he watched my swing and gave me some pointers as well as advice on the right club for that gap.  No he didn't tell me to fish more, but yes he did say I had some areas for improvement.  Also picked up a new golf glove, as it has been a while, my old one is getting pretty badly worn.  Also took the 5 pocket books I have read and got 4 new ones, all oaters/dusters.  The old gal who runs that stall had a good selection.  She looks to be at least 100 yrs. old, but has been at it longer than I have been going there.
We got out of the vastly over crowded parking lot as soon as our business was complete.   We had a stop to make at a smoke shop Marg knew and they also had a nice bottle of Glenmorangie with a pair of glasses that I picked up.  Then it was on to Fry's where we bought fuel using the discount code, so paid $2.23 per gallon.  Yes that is right, the price has been steadily rising over the last week or two.  That always happens it seems, they want to make sure the snowbirds get to fill up at the highest rates of the year as the head home.  There are some leaving in the next few days and others already making plans.  On the way home we stopped at the water vendor and bought a couple of gallons.  You can drink the water here, but I wouldn't put it in my scotch.  LOL  For Marg that means not in tea either.
Happy hour tonight was a smaller group to start with, but several couples stopped on the way to or from someplace.  We talked about a number of things, but you may find Darryl's topic of interest.  It seems he found an offer on Craig's List of a free genset for an RV.  It looks to be out of either a 5th wheel or motorhome and is 5500 watt, so a decent size.  The guy gave it away because it wouldn't run and Darryl with a bit of brake clean got it humming.  Now that is a good deal.
After supper it was ice cream social.  Lots of folks there tonight.  Marg had her usual white cake and ice cream, I had the banana split without pineapple.  We are nothing if not predictable.  It was all good.
The rain forecast for today never materialized, but tomorrow is supposed to be the most serious threat of rain.  Or as the locals refer to it the promise of rain, as the drought here is a very serious matter for them.  The only part I'm not crazy about is the risk of flooding.  The news tonight had pictures of families driving up to Flagstaff so the kids could slide in the snow and make snowmen as there was a couple of feet of the white stuff in the last day or two.  Never saw one snowbird or grey haired person in the clips, for us it is a case of -- nothing to see there!
