Saturday, March 2nd

A bit cooler morning, there was a forecast of rain, as much as 1/4 of an inch.  At home that would be called a sprinkle and reported as an overcast day, but here any precipitation is a big deal.  The wind came up a bit after lunch and the road had some drops on it, but only enough that it was damp.
I went to the clubhouse for breakfast this morning.  I haven't been doing this as a regular thing this year, but try to support certain crews.  There was a pretty good crowd today and the bacon was very crispy.  I sat with a group of friends and it was a good way to start the day.
When I got back, Marg & Linda were ready to go on a search for great bargains at patio and yard sales.  We made it to 3 park patio sales and two neighbourhood sales, although most of the good stuff was in one park and the one neighbourhood.  Marg got a few things: a nice bone china tea cup, another sign and some trousers.  Linda had a whole raft of things, not really certain of them, but she was pretty pleased with a cowboy hat and a bag of mardi-gras masks.  I got a Craftsman long 3/8" socket extension for a buck.  By then we called it a day, a lot of walking for the girls and reading for me.  There were lots of other things, but some of the pricing was not designed to get rid of stuff.
Lunch was back at our place.  After lunch Marg made corned beef hash.  You know chopping cabbage, boiling it, frying hash browns, chopping up the corned beef that spent yesterday in the slow cooker.  I went and played pool for a couple hours with a good group of guys.  It was a busy day, with lots going on in the area.  One of the things on was a car show at the high school that I have seen in previous years and would have been interesting, but was over by noon.
At happy hour, Marg was just finishing up the supper so I went by myself.  I probably had to answer Where is Marg - about half a dozen times.  It was kind of depressing as there were lots of people talking about the last of this or that and events to clean out their fridges.  It seems the migration back home will start in two or three weeks.  By the end of March it sure gets quiet around here, but that is still a month away.
Supper was great, I love corned beef hash.  There was a surprise, a strawberry cheesecake, another thing I love.  Life is good.  After supper I worked on my financial review report for the board here.  I am trying to tactfully deal with the controversy on the entertainment committee funding and the old treasurer I dealt with in the process.  Marg went out to Walgreen pharmacy for a few things.
