Friday

A little chilly this morning as it rained a bit last night.  I don't think we got all that much, but the water tends to pond here rather than sink in.  You would think this dry sandy soil would soak it up and it does, but mother nature has looked after the rate it is absorbed by creating a hard crusty level just below the loose stuff on the surface so it soaks in slowly.  The sky was also a bit overcast, but the temperature still reached the low 70's, so a pleasant day.
It was a day to change out of the short pants and back to the jeans for me.  It was enough to keep us from riding this morning.  It seems there are a few people with uneasy stomachs & yours truly is one of them. Not sure what is going on but this will pass.  There was no water aerobics for our gal this AM as the temp that early was a bit too cool.  In fact it was a bit of a pj day for a while, that is until after the second of two gals came to call on her.  Well one of them dropped off some cd's for me as they want a photo collage to run in the rec hall at group events.
The internet was spotty yesterday and made it challenging to post anything.  This morning it was worse and I spent the better part of an hour on the cell phone with Mediacom.  I couldn't use the land line as we were plugging and unplugging and doing a factory reset on the modem.  The tech kept trying all his tricks, but was having difficulty getting the modem to co-operate.  When I did the first unplug, I learned that the phone also stopped working, so my pay as you go phone took a beating today, fortunately it is at 8 cents a minute.  Shortly after noon, he gave up and scheduled me for a service call, suggesting the local office may have a modem.  So it was off to the office, again fortunately very close to here.  The line up wasn't too bad, we were about #6, but they did give me a modem, even if it doesn't support the telephone we are connected and back on line.  By this time we were well into the afternoon.
I made a cd of pictures from this and last months.  They show up fine on the computer, so I turned them over to Malcolm to try.  Well with the way this was going I wasn't to confident they would play in the dvd player and not to be disappointed, they never.  I also got back on the Christmas letter and managed to bang out a copy of it.  Given the late hour, it will not be a printed copy this year, rather will be electronic and attached to an email.
By then it was close to 4 so we went down to chat with Kenny & Doris as they are leaving for home on Monday to spend Christmas in Kansas.  Rita had put her dog, Bear in Kenny's car that he has been working on this past week or so.  It turned out nice and looks cute with the dog.  You can't see the tail pipes or the upholstery or floor mats I this pic, but its great.  There is a VW button on the hood and one on the trunk.  It is pretty neat and road in the parade on the roof of his golf cart.
By then it was happy hour and even though I never had lunch, I went down as it is getting close to the last for those going home for Christmas.  It is also to keep Larry company as he is on his own these days.  It seems lots of folks had the same idea as the place was a packed house, well carport actually.  Gary & Linda pulled in today, so we got to welcome him back, so good thing we went.
After supper, a very light meal, probably left Marg starving and me not able to finish what I had, we went out to Walmart.  We mainly went to get some pictures developed.  Kenny & Doris are not facebook people, so every year about this time we send them home with some pictures that they can share with their family & friends when they get to Kansas.   Marg is busy this evening making up a few Christmas cards for some of the people here in the park, the gals usually exchange cards.  Well it saves postage, LOL.
