February 8th

Happy birthday to Lyzi, hope your day was special.
Happy birthday to Bill, hope you had a great day.
Sorry we were not able to be there with either of you, but you were in our hearts today.
It was a fabulous day in the valley of the sun, the hottest day of this winter, so far.  The temp reached 83F [29C] today and there was a slight breeze, making it just very nice.  I got up early and went for a bike ride with 2 of the guys this morning.  We had planned to make a few more miles but one of the guys turned back early, so we did as well.  He was quite far ahead of us, so we weren't certain whether he had a problem, so we followed.  Who knows, might have needed someone to pick up the pieces that fell off.  Fortunately such was not the case, rather he turned back because the wind was a bit stronger and we had to ride into it all the way back.  As it turns out, it was a good thing we did turn back early.  Still we made about 5 1/2 miles, so a good ride.
When we got back we dug out our shovels.  Hah sometimes I crack myself up!  Anyway, Marg had some planters, then donated plants and her donor keeps checking to see what is happening.  Today was the day and we had to go pick up some planting soil for the aloe plants, which we planted in one of the planters.  The second was a century plant & we planted that in the dirt.  Well what passes for dirt  It is so hard, you almost need a pick axe to loosen it first, but that is the native soil the century plant grows in.  This will be interesting, because un-checked it will take the whole place over.
I had to post some pictures from last night on the tenants association FB site and then tag them for the people to get notice.  Since I have started posting pics, the number of hits on the site have gone through the roof.  Went for a walk around the park after lunch.  This took at least an hour or more.  It's not that far, but the stops to visit are what take all the time, most of them wanting to talk about the FB pictures.  The pool was pretty busy today and believe it or not the hot pool was full - why is that noteworthy -- remember I said it was 83 today.  I guess some people just can take the heat.
Supper was a bbq affair, well after I cleaned the grill.  Every so often I need to do that, especially when we use bbq sauce; it stops the fire truck from coming to the park.  Did the vegetables and potatoes on there as well tonight, they are always good that way.  No desert with supper as it was ice cream social tonight and that is a great way to wind up a hot day.
