Day one in Apache Jctn - a good one for all!
What a nice day, it was about 77F today. Went and settled with the manager today, a more obliging fellow you would be hard pressed to find. He made a deal on the rental, considering we will be gone for 2 weeks, that we leave the RV on the lot for only $2.50/day. Met some more of the neighbours, they really go out of the way to meet newcomers. The ones [from BC] directly across invited us to happy hour at their place tomorrow. Oh yah, the the other ones from BC beside them are Marg & Dave, LOL. Also burger day in the park tomorrow, a guy came to our door with a written invitation; the last place it was Mondays. Another couple we met from Idaho that came just in time for the ice cream social yesterday were by as well to tell us about the flea market. A couple from Minnesota stopped in to tell us about a scenic drive around Superstition mountain. Marg poached another grapefruit and an orange, must be something like the forbidden fruit. They are really tasty & Marg insists they would be good even if she had to pay for them. No one else even bothers with them, but tomorrow Marg plans to ask if it's OK.
Went to the Cabella store today, its in Glendale. This store is the outdoorsman heaven. If they don't have it, you don't need it. REALLY successful on souveniers, but Marg never managed to find anything for herself. Thats akin to not finding chocolate at the Cadbury plant??? If you are not familiar with Phoenix, this trip was driving almost all the way through the metro area [about 40-50 miles]. It's all freeway and the traffic moved pretty good [65mph], although the area around downtown Phoenix is pretty busy. Four levels of overpasses and 6 travelling lanes in each direction with a couple more merge lanes. It's a little bit like everyone in Grande Prairie driving right where you are all the time. LOL
The owls were back, they cause quite a sensation and everyone looks for them in the late afternoon. One of them tried to take a small dog, but it was too heavy and dropped it. Apparently they prey on the rabbits in the area and get the odd snake as well.
